Recreation enthusiasts, conservationists and leaders from across the state will gather to celebrate 25 years of protecting rivers and waterways for everyone to enjoy. 

Attendees will enjoy full bar service at the opening reception with live music, a program and live auction, and dinner and dancing.

Georgia Rivers Gala will honor the following for their influential role in protecting the Okefenokee Swamp:

Muscogee (Creek) Nation Chief David Hill for declaring Okefenokee Swamp’s Trail Ridge as a Muscogee Sacred Site.

U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff for his ongoing efforts to establish the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Representative Darlene Taylor who proposed the Okefenokee Protection Act bill to ban mining on Okefenokee’s Trail Ridge. 

In addition to celebrating those championing the protection of the swamp, other champions of rivers throughout Georgia will also be honored during the program.
